Topics discussed at the event included what recent federal and state policy announcements such as the Victorian Housing Statement and the lowering of the Managed Investment Trust (MIT) withholding tax rate for Build to Rent housing projects mean for the sector, and what’s needed next to support the long-term growth and potential of the asset class in Australia.
Sentinel is active in Victoria's Build to Rent market with a 172-apartment development, The Briscoe by Kinleaf, approaching completion at 151 Hawke Street in West Melbourne. It also recently announced the acquisition of a 6,528 square metre site for development at 23-47 Villiers Street in North Melbourne. Located in the heart of the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, Sentinel plans to deliver and manage approximately 350 high-quality and sustainable rental apartments across two buildings on the site.
Sentinel currently has more than 1,600 Build to Rent units under various stages of development and operation throughout Australia and recently launched its Australian property management brand, Kinleaf.
